Episode 047 Steve Caballero, A legendary Player in the history of Skateboarding
We have a great chat about Steve’s unique and amazing career in skateboarding including having two sponsors VANS and POWELL PERALTA for more than 30 years, which is certainly rare in the history of skateboard sponsorships. We discuss the changes Steve witnessed in Pro Skateboarding over the years, and some of the challenges that have come up along the way. We discuss how strange it was to us both when amateurs started getting paid, and what is feels like to be a Team Manager as opposed to a rider and much more.
We talk about collectibles and opportunities we missed or lost, skateboarding’s Big 5, and how I ruined skateboarding in the early 90’s (I promise it wasn’t me). We talk stickers and how important they are to us and our culture. We also discuss the days when I sponsored Steve and he rode for my Standard Trucks Brand during the 90’s, that was a great honor for me back then, and it was timed well for both of us at that time.
