Where to Listen

We are just past the halfway point of the season and we already know that the Leafs are playing Tampa in the 1st round of the playoffs! With 38 games left to play, it is still possible that the Leafs’ fate can change, but we’re not holding our breath! We mentioned early in the season that Chris would be monitoring the team’s losses to sub-par competition, and she delivers her first report on how many points we have given away to date. To say that these losses have made a negative impact is an understatement. We’re hopeful that with more on the line in the second half, we can make more of these games count!

Despite these losses to the lesser lights, things are still looking pretty good for the Leafs since the start of the new year! In our GBU segment, we discuss the positive steps the coaching staff have taken in an effort to preserve our players for the post-season, and what we would like to see more of, and of course a spark in the play of a certain player has caught our eye! We also look at what’s been happening with specialty teams lately. There’s at least one experiment that we wish they’d give up on! Listen and let us know if you agree!

In our LTL Highlight reel, we celebrate a goal, an assist and a brilliant save! Tune in to hear which plays made the cut! Then, for the Third Period, we have an exclusive behind the scenes look at the NHL Situation Room, where the on ice calls in the NHL are reviewed. Chris gives us her special report from her visit to the NHL’s Toronto offices back in November.

Considering all the man-games lost to injury so far this season, the Leafs are sitting in a pretty good spot half way through the season. The next few weeks will bring some stiffer competition, and a bit of a breather post All-Star break. Let’s hope the team comes back rested, re-charged and ready for the stretch drive to the playoffs.

On a technical note, you may notice that our sound is not up to our usual standards for this episode. Syl sounds like she is talking in a tunnel :( . Sometimes the tech gods just aren’t on your side! We hope you still enjoy the content, and of course Chris still sounds like a million bucks! We will iron it out for next time, and appreciate you sticking with us! GO Leafs GO!
