Episode 70 – Johnny Townsend, NFL Free Agent Punter

Johnny Townsend is an NFL free agent punter. He was an All-American punter at the University of Florida and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Townsend has punted for the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Tennessee Titans. His NFL career stats are 85 punts, averaging 43.3 yards per punt, with 19 punts downed inside the 20. In 2018 Townsend founded The Johnny Townsend Foundation, benefiting the greatest needs in the pediatric oncology infusion clinic. Throughout his career as a Florida Gator student-athlete, Townsend had many opportunities to interact and form bonds with pediatric cancer patients at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. He always looked for ways to use his platform as a student-athlete to benefit and brighten to the day of patients, their friends, and their families. Townsend's grandfather Carl was a cancer survivor and spent time at UF Health during his treatment. Knowing firsthand the impact cancer can have on patients, friends, and families dealing with it, he had no trouble finding motivation to give back.
